oxidation potential,
Chemistry, Physics. a measure, in volts, of an element's tendency to oxidize or lose electrons, used to predict how the element will react with another substance. The oxidation potential of hydrogen is arbitrarily assigned as zero. The standard oxidation potential of potassium is + 2.92, and of gold, ― 1.42.
